With the long weekend having just wrapped it’s time to get back into the swing of things.

It was a weird weekend of cracking days, wild winds, and freezing temperatures—loads of variety—much like this week’s Setlist.

This week we’re going to be featuring some rap royalty, a festival of emerging artists, and a rock revivalist.

By the way, don’t forget! We’ve got an events calendar. If you have an event you’d like to promote, just fill out the form here and we’ll have it live on the site within 24 hours. If you’d like to be featured in next week’s Setlist, please submit your event by the Monday previous to your event to be considered.

WEDNESDAY 12

GAME OVER. at C Complejo Art Media

Summer is creeping around the corner and the after-office has already become a lot more jovial affair with the warmer weather.

It seems all too fitting that Sara Hebe returns to the fold with her cool swagger and her strong message of feminism off the back of her latest album SUCIA ESTRELLA.

Her latest release has kick-ass club/disco beats with a silky smooth delivery, which has become her signature. She also locked in some pretty crazy collabs which I think really brought the album together.

Joining her at this event will be La Coneja China (DJ) and Emiliata (DJ).

For the ultimate after-office, grab your tickets here.

19:00 | Starting at $1275 + Booking Fee |  C Complejo Art Media | Av Corrientes 6271

El Mundo Limón at La Tangente

El Mundo Limón, the solo project of Franco “Choki” Giaquinta will be releasing their first studio album Circo Fantastic Pipol.

Giaquinta has a sound that captures the essence of Argentine rock from the 80’s with an air of hope, reflection, and poise. It’s a step away from his work with neo-soul outfit CrewRod and really gives him the chance to unleash.

The new album has some absolutely killer tracks such as “Tazas rotas” and “Trepan alto” that really reflect his range not only as a vocalist but also as a composer. It’s a release that feels fluid yet exciting at every turn.

Get yourself riled up with a pre-weekend performance. Buy your tickets here.

Nuwanliss (Ana Mirabal Mujica), is an architect, poet, and non-binary artist based in Buenos Aires since 2016.

casaBrandon is a Cultural Center led by people who are part of the LGBTIQ+ community that champions live music, art, and so much more. It has been a staple part of the scene in promoting and supporting artists from all walks of life.

Reina y el Príncipe Heredero, Amadeo Pasa & DJ Estupendo at Congo Club Cultural

I always get a big grin when an artist I’ve featured in a monthly music round-up performs here in the city.

I came across these guys during the throws of the pandemic and what a blessed discovery it was. Reina y el Príncipe Heredero with their self-titled album became a staple in my loft when I was ready to lose the plot.

This is a project which can vary from being floaty and ethereal to delving into the territory of downright filthy club tunes. Reina has an air of 80’s styled new wave with dark and sultry undertones at its core.

They’ll be joined by friends Amadeo Pasa and DJ Estupendo to seal the deal.

A hell of a show with a hell of a good venue. Grab your tickets here.

FRIDAY 14

Festival Desorden at Otra Historia

Desorden Festival by BeatHey is back in Otra Historia Cultural Club. BeatHey is the first music platform for independent artists where 100% of the profit is retained by the artist.

Featuring a mix of DJs, bands, live sets, acoustics, an art fair, vinyl, and so much more. It’ll be a crazy

4 stages and 10 incredible hours of emerging talent.

Desorden was born as a weekly show showcasing a range of bands, DJs, and creatives on Wednesdays in 2017. It now births some of the more popular names in the independent scene.

This will be a great opportunity to sink your teeth into the local scene and an excellent tester if you’re still trying to find your niche in the local scene.

Rayos Láser at Niceto

Rayos Láser returns to Niceto not only to promote their latest release but to run through some of their absolute classics.

The Córdoban band started releasing music back in 2012 and became a recurring name at festivals and concerts throughout the country. With several albums, singles, and nominations to boot (Latin Grammy, MTV EMA, Gardel) they are certainly a big player in the Argentine pop music scene.

One of my favourite releases is their uber-boppy track “Ya Me Hiciste Mal” which was a bit of a quarantine anthem for me.

Entries to the show are available here.

21:30 | $2100 + Booking Fee | Niceto Club | Niceto Vega 5510

Pil del Villar at Centro Cultural Richards

For the first time this year, Pil del Villar performs live with a full band at CC Richards (Palermo Hollywood) with a repertoire of his own songs, some already published and others unreleased. There will also be special guests!

Pil del Villar has a sound that harks back to the yesteryears of the 70s and 80s when tight leather pants, leopard print, and hedonism prevailed.

While that may be long dead, Villar has revived the more important musical aspects of these eras to create a refreshing take on the times.

His single “I Got You Stuck In My Mind” was produced by none other than Jimmy Rip who is notable for his work with Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, and Debbie Harry (in addition to other various legends).

Pil del Villar is rocking his solo career and he has already shown a clear path and goal in mind with fantastic single after single.

You can get your entries here.

21:00 | $1500 + Booking Fee | Centro Cultural Richards | Honduras 5272

SATURDAY 15

Sir Madame at Simona

A new live set of Sir Madame is awaiting you at Simona. It will be their first time performing at Espacio Simona, where they will play a combination of their own originals and some covers.

The band has been together since May and it seems they are making their footholds in the scene.

As per usual I love emerging artists particularly upcoming young musicians so show some love.

Purchase your tickets here.

20:45 | $400 | Espacio Simona Cultural | Avenida Alvarez Thomas 661

Jueves at Quetzal

As a band and a party in one, Jueves proves that more drums mean more fun.

The jam band takes on cumbia, reggaeton, funk, and other various dance genres to produce an energy fuelled performance that will prove infectious.

They are tightly executed unit that has incredible chemistry and even more accelerating music to boot.

You can purchase your tickets here.

23:30 | $800 + Booking Fee | El Quetzal | Guatemala 4516

SUNDAY 16

Policromía & Ciprés at Club Lucille

Policromía presents Sintagma, their fourth studio album released in September, in a show where they will also revisit songs from their previous release. The album, which follows El Ocaso de los Héroes, was nominated for the 2020 Gardel Awards in the category of Best Heavy Rock/Punk Album. It is face-melting display of pure rock goodness.

The evening will be opened by Ciprés/Rúchuga who released their stunning new album Efímero just a few months ago. Their sound is much like a time capsule from the noughties with a really strong indie alternative vibe that stretches all the way towards Radiohead, particularly in the title track from their new album.

Tickets are available here.

20:00 | $800 + Booking Fee | Club Lucille | Gorriti 5520
