Daltonica at Lucille
After many months of not playing, Daltonica is making their return to the beautiful doors of Lucille.
I’ve got a big soft spot for this place. It has an incredible stage set-up and overall warm sound. It is an absolute dream venue to spend a night listening to new music!
Daltonica has a lot of funk influences and is a band whose main objective, some would say even mission, is to get you up and dancing.

THURSDAY 15
Paul Higgs at Niceto Club
Buenos Aires-based Paul Higgs returns with his new album Tridimensional making waves across the city.
The Uruguayan-born Higgs will bring together musicians from both sides of the Río de la Plata. Featuring Melanie Williams (Arg), Choki Giaquinta (Arg), Charlie (Uy), Leandro Aquistapacie (Uy) and Martín Lucina (Arg) this will be an unprecedented show at Niceto Club.
Higgs has a vintage sound pulling in genres from the 60s to 80s with funky bass, horn sections, and guitar riffs that sound like something off a Prince album.
It’s sultry and dancey at the same time.
Give him an album release party to remember. Pick up your tickets here.

Julián Nenna at La Tangente
Julián Nenna and his band present Del Riachuelo Hacia el Mar, his first solo album and a journey of songs to travel and navigate through different sensations of popular music.
He is a musician, singer-songwriter, and guitarist that has had a career in the underground music scene for more than 10 years.
Originally from the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of La Boca, he combines new sounds with various genres, such as rock, porteña murga, funk, samba-reggae, bossa nova, music from the River Plate, and tango.
The cool thing about Nenna’s music is that it is infectiously fun and driving, while at other times emotionally charged and serious.
This is a man who knows how to read the crowd and has got his live performances down to an art form.

Rodri Carazo has a tendency to lean into the more experimental side with his serene and soulful guitar-based music infused with soothing melodies.
In this performance, he will be playing tracks from his back catalogue alongside Gonza Sánchez (Bass) and Santi Lopez (Percussion) in addition to other guest musicians.
They’ll be winding back to songs from previous releases such as Ríe río, Oír e Ir, Octógono and a new set of songs from his fresh EP Subceleste.

Maca Mona Mu at Centro Cultural Richards
Off the back of her recently released album KELP, Maca Mona Mu is hitting the stage of Centro Cultural Richards.
Her latest album has been described as a pop album with experimental tendencies dancing over the underlying theme of water. The instrumentation of strings, woodwind, and percussion play a crucial role in bringing these ideas to the surface while wading into existentialism, reflection, and intimacy.
This project, of artist Macarena Muñoz, has been a journey which began at the early age of 14 years old, when she began composing songs which would years later lead to her debut album Explotar. Muñoz has been known to delve in the territory of folk, tango, blues and rock, while maintaining her own unique sense of identity and presence.
Entries to the show are available here.

ALL INCLUSIVE with Blanco Teta at Teatro Mandril
Blanco Teta‘s shows are unlike anything that is happening today on the national music scene. Their music has a punk-noise base but judging by on their antics onstage, their performances delve into the relm of the almost theatrical.
They have two EPs: Blanco Teta (2017) and Incendiada (2020). Their music transcends traditional band music with a ferocity that is equally terrifying and alluring.
The band have had the pleasure to support absolute titans of the noisy variety such as Mr Bungle, Primus, and SOPHIE.
Additionally, they are one of the chosen acts for the KEXP sessions taking place in 2023 here in Buenos Aires.
You can get your entries here.

SATURDAY 17
PORTAL INFINITO – Flor del Valle, El Azar & Izhy at Roseti
PORTAL INFINITO is bringing together a fresh collection of genre-breaking artists for a beautiful evening at Roseti.
Flor del Valle explores elements of world music using a wide variety of sounds and textures to build beautifully transcendent pieces. In some of her songs I detect interesting and unexpected focal points, such as her use of a lilting vocal cadence.
El Azar is an improvised music project with ancestral, organic, and electronic sounds.
Izhy will be closing the night with chill music that utilizes intricate soundscapes and, at times, tribal percussion which reaches incredible moments of zen-like crescendos.
If you’re looking for something a little more relaxed this will be right up your alley.

Festival Cultural Saldias
Lucas Pombo and his brother Nicolás were working for a local transport company when, one day, an abandoned building caught their attention. It was where a fruit market used to operate and in the building there were 68 offices with 68 safes. Lucas opened them all that day and he found nothing.
Today, those rooms are not empty. Each houses treasures from the urban cultural scene: musicians, bands, sculptors, photographers, and filmmakers. More than 1,500 artists coexist harmoniously in the Saldías Cultural space.
Attempts to evict these artistic squatters from their newly formed collective gathering spot were made, but what came instead was more determination that this space wouldn’t fall into the hands of bureaucracy.
From this, a festival was born. It started as a couple of friends coming together to watch fellow musicians show off their stuff and has now grown into quite the calendar event.
There are even rumours of a couple of international guests making an appearance.

They’ll be revisting tracks from Nirvana along with a few unreleased songs and songs from the next album. Chico Cesar will accompany as well as surprise guest artists.
In addition, the night will include the songs of Luciano Larocca (a member of La Bomba de Tiempo).
Lucian Lorocca hits the stage to promote his recently released single “Uruguay feat Mocchi”. He’ll also featuring songs from his third album, where the singer-songwriter shifts into the urban sounds of synthesizers and electric guitars, expanding his acoustic palette and giving way to more visceral music with sharp contours.
