Moveable Feasts is a weekly agenda in which we give you the low-down on this week’s food fairs, workshops, and pop-ups in Buenos Aires

How do you do, fellow kids? This week has been a doozy. The heat wave isn’t planning on receding. I missed that “chill January feel” that I’ve come to expect at the beginning of the year at work. And to top it off there’s the deep knowledge that, having just come back from vacation, this is as chill as I’ll be throughout the year. What to do, then? Eat and drink to your heart’s content, naturally. This week we’ve got fairs, wine tasting, movie projections, and more – let’s dive right in.

Don’t forget to book your spot by sliding into those DMs, bb.

Floreria Atlántico Goes Full Hamburguesa

Have you ever been to Florería Atlántico? The not so secret, secret bar is located right in the middle of fancy Recoleta and if you’ve never read a list of “Top BA bars,” you might dismiss is for what it actually looks like– a beautiful flower shop. However, behind what looks like a huge freezer door stands one of Buenos Aires’ top bars, ripe with fancy cocktails and fancy food. Today they’re celebrating their seventh anniversary and have decided to take the food part of that power duo and show us there’s still stuff to learn about the classic burger. With chefs from renowned  restaurants like Carne, Meats, and La Carnicería, we’re sure that whatever happens behind the mysterious door tonight, none of it will disappoint.

Make your way to La Confitería for a night of old cinema on their terrace and kickstart your weekend early.

The Bs. As. Market is stretching out of their regular comfort zone and appearing for the first time in Belgrano, colonizing the Manuel Belgrano square just for one day/night with the finest gourmet products. Take advantage of the fact that this market will last well into the night and wander around as the sun goes down – just remember that the best things will likely run out first!

SIDEDISH: Happy Chinese New Year!

Yes, it gets packed, but look, there’s a dragon! Take this as the opportunity to immerse yourself in a culture that, with an 80 peso dollar rate, you likely won’t be experiencing any other way. Head to Barrio Chino to check out the different activities (and foods) available for you in the next few days. Here you can find a list of updated info, or scope their saved stories for more. Also, no, I don’t have any concrete input on the food (other than our resident’s food writer’s incredible recommendations), but considering you’ll be in Chinatown, I’m pretty sure you’ll manage.

WED 29.1

Wine Oxygenation Workshop

I am unsure exactly what this entails, considering that I thought there wasn’t much for us mere mortals to do other than pour the wine from container A to container B, but apparently, there’s enough to learn here for it to be a full lesson. Find out exactly what it’s about (and run back to report). Then make the best out of your ticket by taking advantage of the money they give back for you to spend on wine. Yes, the ticket could be cheaper and not have this, but this is the game and we’re all just playing, so yes, sir, I will take that Cabernet Franc.
