Moveable Feasts is a weekly agenda in which our food writer Tamx Rivas gives us the low-down on this week’s food fairs, workshops, and pop-ups in Buenos Aires.
My big trip is coming up and I’ll be leaving you guys next week. Stop crying, it’s okay, you’ll still get your Moveable Feasts. I know, it won’t be the same, but I’m staying in La La Lista, believe me, you’ll hear about me. These last few days, the cold has been freezing us all up. I forgot what it was like to get out of bed feeling energized, hopping out of bed just like that. Luckily, we’ve still got food! As usual, I’ve found all the foods for you to eat up so you can hibernate later. Get ready to stuff those tummies!
THURS 04/7

Omakase Sushi
Omakase (Japanese: お任せ Hepburn: o-makase) is a Japanese phrase that means “I’ll leave it up to you.“ Customers ordering omakase style expect the chef to be innovative and surprising in the selection of dishes, and the meal can be likened to a sort of artistic performance by the chef. Ordering omakase can be a gamble, but the customer typically receives the highest-quality fish available at a lower cost than if they ordered à la carte. Are you hooked already? I know I am, Buri Sushi is one of the best sushi joints in BA and they’re always out to get you! To get you eating sushi, that is. It’ll be $1500 per person, including dinner, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage. There’s a limited capacity of twenty diners, save your place by emailing reservas@buri.com.ar

Independence Day Locrito
If you know anything about July 9th food, you know that Locro is the main star of the show. Locro is a squash, beans, bacon and beef chowder/stew. It’s one of my favorites dishes of all time, even if it doesn’t look so good. It’s so full of flavors and amazingly spicy (if you do it right). The Argentinian tradition is to eat it on important dates (such as May Revolution Day or Independence Day). Don’t miss out, Cafe de Los Patriotas invites you to try their own locro.
