Moveable Feasts is a weekly agenda in which our food writer Tamx Rivas gives us the low-down on this week’s food fairs, workshops, and pop-ups in Buenos Aires.

I’ve been talking to a lot of people and we’ve all agreed that we’re pretty tired and stressed these days, but also hungry AF, mainly because cooking is a paja (even for a chef like me). The mood around these cold city’s streets isn’t the most cheerful. But worry not friends! Food, I believe, is a little piece of love and dedication that can turn your frown upside down. On your food horoscope for the week: brunch, sake, vegan dishes, Japanese food and so much more!

Thursdays are hard. You deserve a little break from routine. FRI 14/6

Sukiyaki Party

Have you ever had Sukiyaki? It’s a Japanese dish that consists of meat (usually thinly sliced beef) which is slowly cooked or simmered at the table, alongside vegetables and other ingredients, in a shallow iron pot with a mixture of soy sauce, sugar, and mirin. The ingredients are usually dipped in a small bowl of raw, beaten eggs after being cooked in the pot, and then eaten. This weekend, in spirit of the Japanese food week in BA (Gastro-Japo Food Week), Hanami is hosting a Sukiyaki party. There’ll be two chances to sign up to: 19:00-21:30 and 22:00-00:30 hrs. I suggest you save your place by contacting 11-5152-8476.

19:00 – 00:30  hrs. | Hanami | Medrano 1230 | Palermo

Blindfolded Dinner

You won’t accept just dinner at a nice place anymore. You wanna try something new, don’t you? I see you, and I got just the thing: the blindfolded dinner is THE event to go to at Clara Aurora. Take a five course dinner and add a blindfold: it becomes a whole new sensory experience; textures, smells, silences, and more. There’ll also be a live music show during dinner. To save your place, contact 11-5038-0603.

You’ll learn everything from the grain you need to make the beer, to fermentation, cooking and more! During the workshop there’ll be two coffee breaks and a beer tasting alongside some finger food. Gastro-Japo Week

From June 12th to June 19th, the Gastro-Japo Food Week will take place in Buenos Aires. Every Japanese restaurant in the city has prepared dishes in celebration of this food fest, and they have special menus for the occasion. To get a complete list of all the restaurants that are participating in the festival go to Club Gastro Japo. I’m taking this chance to call attention to one of my favorite authentic-Japanese restaurants: Mirutaki. They know what to do and they do it so well. If you wanna take my recommendation, order the Takoyaki (<– food porn link), it’s so creepy and delicious at the same time.

20:00 – 0:00 hrs. | Mirutaki | Ángel Carranza 2339 | Palermo

Italian Pasta Workshop

As you must already know, Argentinians love fideos (pasta). We also brag a lot about our Italian descent, but then we don’t even know how to make tomato sauce. Stop bragging and start learning! La Pasta Noble is teaching you all about fresh homemade pasta and its uses. The tools you need to make it, how to prepare the perfect dough, how to store it–all of this will be revealed during the workshop. For more info contact pastanoble@gmail.com

16:00 – 19:30 hrs. | La Pasta Noble | Billinghurst 1174 | Palermo

Edibles 101

If you did a double-take on the image, yes it is what you think it is. I see you enjoy the devil’s lettuce, Mary Jane, pocket rocket, giggly broccoli—ok, I’m getting to it. Thing is, sometimes I don’t wanna take in all that smoke (or do I)  and prefer to just bake something to get baked with. This time, Talita Chef will teach you the basics of cooking with Cannabis. Dosage, mixtures, techniques and much more will be explained in this awesome workshop. There’ll also be a vape room, a coffee break with edibles and a gift bag from the sponsors (probably some paraphernalia). Need I say more? Tickets are $2000 per person and you can get them on Cocina Cannabica Tickets.

15:00 – 18:00 | Tim Sativa | Av. Álvarez Thomas 1431 | Villa Ortúzar

MASA’S Anti-Monday Blessing

I know, the long weekend was great and all, but you need to end it like a boss. Nothing better than heading to San Telmo, where MASA is awaiting your weary stomach, in need of a new taste, a new feeling. Believe it or not, their food saved my soul.
