Moveable Feasts is a weekly agenda in which our food writer Tamx Rivas gives us the low-down on this week’s food fairs, workshops, and pop-ups in Buenos Aires.

May is going by fast and everyone on the street has a nasty cold (including me). Still, there are a lot of foodie options this week, from natural food workshops to a candy fest. So leave that snuggie on the bed, put on a jacket and get munching!

THURS 16/5

Sourdough Workshop

Did you know? After the Industrial Revolution, bread production became automatized; bread itself lost its nutritional value and became harder to digest. Luckily, there are still people making the original with just water, flour, salt, sourdough and patience. This workshop takes us way back and teaches us how to get the good stuff. The cost is $500 per person and you can get your place by emailing talleres@somosraiz.com or calling 1131664250.

Have you ever wondered why everyone just wants to “quit flour” or chooses to change their diet to a gluten free diet? Have you ever been curious about celiac disease? This workshop will teach you everything, from what is flour to why it can’t be consumed by celiac people. It will also bring some new options (sweet and savory) into your diet! Rice bread, Ferrero Rocher-like treats and pizza are just a few of the recipes they will be teaching in their workshop. The cost is $900 ($1100 with card) per person. Reserve your spot by paying $300 in advance — call/message 1162344038 for more info.
