Moveable Feasts 14.01.2019

Moveable Feasts is a weekly agenda in which our food writer Alyssa Hansen gives us the low-down on this week’s wine tastings, tacos, pub crawls, and dia de campos in Buenos Aires.

MON 14/01

MASA Invades Banquito Rojo

Craving that fresh summer taste? Get your taco fixin’ at Banquito Rojo with Kevin Vaughn’s creations. Literally “the only place in Buenos Aires that I’ve tasted the authentic flavor of Mexico” (according to local Argentine foodie, Paloma Cladera) and where “spicy is actually spicy”. Recommendations to try: El Intocable (mmmango) and La Atómica (carne a cuchillo).

19:00 – 23:30 hrs. | Banquito Rojo | Bolivar 914 | San Telmo

TUE 15/01

Wine Tasting: 2018’s Top 5 Red Wines

This is your chance to crowdsource your shopping decisions for that next wine you bring to an asado. EnoGarage, the chain of specialty wine stores around the city, hosts regular wine tastings that feature plates with bread, meats, and cheeses to accompany their delicious and hard-to-find wines. Online registration is required, but all you have to do is show your ID at the door to get in. This is technically a free event, although each person must spend $420 in purchases at the store (not difficult picking up a nice wine or two).

19:30 – 21:00 hs  | EnoGarage Belgrano “2” | Moldes 2700  | Belgrano

WED 16/01

Exotic Wines and Cheese Fondue

Ever heard of Gewurztraminer wine? Me either. This evening is definitely somewhere to take that hard-to-impress relative or lover. As if tasting exotic wines wasn’t enough to excite the average oenophile, you can top that off with a cheese fondue and plates of spiced cheeses. Seating is limited (only room for 14 people) so reserve your spot calling: 11-4824-0647, or via email: claudia@lacavadevittorio.com.ar. The price at the door is $450, but if you stop by the day before with cash you’ll save $50. You’ll also have the chance to purchase all the wines that you try at a discount of 20%.

20:00 hs | La Cava de Vittorio Vinoteca | Arenales 2321  | Recoleta

THUR 17/01

This edition of casual sidewalk wine tastings at “Wining” wine bar takes things up a notch, inviting you to their hidden patio to try red and white blends from the Escorado label by Mendoza bodega, Anaia. Escorado evokes the easy summer vibes of sailboat adventures, with the wind “tilting” you into the waves. Your ticket for $550 gives you access to the open bar all night, as well as all-you-can eat gourmet pizza and the sounds of a DJ heating things up on the patio. Click here to purchase tickets online.

Travel Club meets Pub Crawl

“Birrawalkers”, a.k.a. Argentine for “pub crawl”, is an outing organized by La Boussole, a group for locals that love to travel, share recipes and books, and even cowork together. You’ll hit up a few bars in the Palermo area, where you’ll receive a surprise gift at each bar, along with tips from appointed travel ambassadors. A great opportunity to mingle and enjoy a few beers for $150 per person. To sign-up, email:  laboussolepalermo@gmail.com.
