This week brings us December 21st, the wi̶n̶t̶e̶r̶ summer solstice. How will you be spending the longest day of the year? (Haha, longboy.) This year we can expect approximately 16 hours and 28 minutes of sunlight. Wow. There’s a lot that one could do, or not do, in 16 hours and 28 minutes… I mean, just think of all the LIVE MUSIC you could hear in that amount of time!

Here are our recommendations for this week:

Thursday 20

Jaz Pimentel / La Taza Calva / Clémentine!

Jaz PimentelLa Taza Calva and Clémentine, together for the first time in one place! It is sure to be an incredible show. Jaz Pimentel is a singer-songwriter who dabbles in different styles, drawing inspiration from anything and everything, including but not limited to USB cables. La Taza Calva was formed by brothers Nahuel and Lautaro Varela in 2007, at the ages of 10 and 12 years old. Their latest release, La Esencia de la Vida, contains 12 songs ranging from dancey synth-pop to sensitive pop ballads. Clémentine is the solo indie-pop project of Flavia Talledo, who sings and accompanies herself on the guitar. Playa Sintetica, Rayo a Tierra, and Emily And at Distrito Pomo

This Thursday, POMO offers us the perfect excuse to get out, meet up with friends, and turn our ears to the sound of new music. The curly-headed sk8ter bois of Playa Sintética will get us moving and grooving to their songs about beach parties and peg-leg pirates; the storm clouds will open to bring us the crunchy tunes of Rayo a Tierra; and soloist Emily And (omg, it me!!) will bring the rainbow, playing tunes on her (my) rainbow-string guitar.

Friday 21

Hungría presents: Cumbre de nieves perpetuas

So arrives Hungría‘s last show for an undetermined amount of time, and although the new album isn’t going to come out until next year, they will take advantage of this final opportunity to present it live in its totality: approximately 1.5 hours of music without interruption, submerged in the visuals of Milagro de Catamarca. The math rock band has invited their dear friends and fellow math rockers archipiélagos and MALVIAJE to join them for this special occasion.
